Last month's theme of "Scio - I Know" inspired a variety of interesting entries, which I hope you had the opportunity to check out.

Here's what last month's winner Van White had to say about his pick of "Fishin' for a Pot o' Gold" by LindaDeMarre ...FIRST PLACE - FISHIN' FOR A POT O' GOLD
"This fantastic photo, "Fishin' for a Pot o' Gold," spoke to me immediately, and THEN I saw the fisherman. That added element made the image especially outstanding. In fact, the photo was powerful with merely the brilliant waterfall. Including the rainbow element greatly strengthened it. The fisherman easily boosted it over the top to a resounding win.

**********************the viewer. The natural lighting works well here. I can imagine this lady sitting near a window late in the afternoon...in the stillness of her home. But it's one that could be interpreted in so many ways.
I appreciate the repetition of shape with the buttons on her sleeves and the beads of her necklace. But, most of all, I like the detail of her hands. Overall, its simple details and close-up composition are wonderful.THIRD PLACE - SNOWBALL FIGHT
Although, I would prefer to see the kids slightly off to one side (so the main action of the shot were not as centered), the fact that the faces are positioned in the top third means it does work as is. Including all of the sand balls, without any clipping, is a real plus.
The final thing that pushed this shot into the running for me was its description. Richard says, "I know there is no snow on this beach in the Philippines. I also know an upcoming snowball fight when I see one." Descriptions are important. There was at least one other shot in February's challenge, "Tony" by angello99, that had such a wonderful description, it truly made the shot.HONORABLE MENTION - LOVE
This charming shot also comes with a well-matched description: "I love my grandkids and know that the best photos happen unsolicited, when they are doing what they do best...being kids...uninhibited and free of stress or worry."
The blur and selective focus bring a dream-like quality to the photo, while its composition and lighting are artfully handled. The black and white on this photo adds to its timeless feel...and I'm sure it will be treasured for years to come with a place on the wall or mantle.Linda, our first-place winner, can pick a prize from the prize list here:
