- Find out just how easy it is to turn your snapshots into cash – and enjoy the freedom, independence, and travel opportunities that freelance photography delivers…
If you're intrigued by the prestige of seeing your photos in magazines… if you long for a career or sideline that lets you travel whenever you like and live wherever you prefer… then this is, hands down, the best place to begin your adventure.
Join us in Paris this spring and spend four days learning from and exploring the city in the company of like-minded travelers and professional photographer, Rich Wagner.
I assure you, not only will you come away with a real passion for Paris -- having discovered it with a photographer’s eye -- but you'll also learn all the ins and outs you need to take amazing photos… and sell them.
Whether you have little experience and modest equipment or you’re already a talented amateur photographer, you’ll benefit from this program.
The bottom line is: You don't need to have a $1,000 camera to take photos you can sell for $400… $600… or more. And this May 30- June 2, 2009 in Paris, we'll show you exactly how it's done.
Our Participants are Enjoying Great Successes
This program boasts an unbeatable track record -- it really does propel people from amateur to pro, fast.
Take Lynnia Allison. She attended our workshop in The Bahamas, and one month later, she displayed some of her photographs at a local gallery exhibit and sold four at $500 a piece.
And there's Sue Wright, who attended our workshop in Paris and sold more than $1,500 worth of photos within three months of returning home.
They both paid for their workshop fees in short order, and the skills they used to do it are the same ones you'll learn in Paris this May/June.
We'll teach you everything you need to know to create your own successes… and turn your photos into cash so you can enjoy the freedom, independence, and amazing travel opportunities freelance photography can deliver.
Discover the Skills and Secrets You Need to Turn Your Snapshots into Cash… and Your Travels into Paid Vacations…
This May/June, you’ll learn:- Professional tricks of photographers “on assignment” abroad... including how to capture the essence of a place in your photos
- The difference between vacation snapshots and travel photos that you can sell to magazines and newspapers
- Which markets to target when selling vacation photos How
- How to set yourself up to sell your photos as fine art in galleries, libraries, online, and more...
- How to take unique, saleable shots of popular landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Sacre Coeur
- Pro-level Photoshop and Lightroom techniques that’ll make any photographer look like an expert
- Tips for taking amazing, almost magical night and sunrise photographs of the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower from lesser-known viewpoints. These are vantage points we’ve discovered over the years of taking people to Paris for photo workshops… and they’re our little secret that we’d love to share with you when you join us in Paris this spring
We'll Be Based at the Hotel Minerve,
Located in the 5th Arrondisement
We're hosting this workshop at the Hotel Minerve, located in the heart of the Latin Quarter. With it’s tiny, curving, cobbled streets and charming markets, bookstores, cafes, and shops, you'll find yourself lost in the romance of Paris from the moment you arrive.
The Latin Quarter is the ideal jumping-off point for exploring the city. We'll be in the 5th, not too far a walk (and certainly an easy Metro ride) from the Champs de Mars, the long park that encompasses the Eiffel Tower, full of flowers and green expanse.
Also within easy reach is the Musee D'Orsay with its Impressionist collection and the Sainte Chapelle with its extraordinary stained glass windows (a great place to attend a concert, by the way).
The Cardinal Lemoine metro stop is a leisurely walk from the hotel, and so in no time at all you can find yourself walking along the Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe or looking through the Louvre's glass pyramid. You might head to Notre Dame or grab a crepe or an ice cream at one of the tiny shops nearby on Isle St. Louis. There's the Pompidou Center, of course, wearing its modern art inside and its pipes and escalators out… well, the list of attractions goes on and on.
There's no other city quite as alluring as Paris… and we're not immune to its charms. That's why we're headed back there. It's one place where, I think it's safe to say, you can't help but find something to photograph everywhere your eyes alight.
(Your four night’s hotel accommodation at the Hotel Minerve is included in your workshop fee.)
Learn How to Capture Architecture, People, and Landscape Shots That Will Sell
You'll find this program in May/June fast-paced and fun, and you really will see the city in a way you never could as a regular tourist. The itinerary is packed full and we'll be out-and-about quite a bit, so you'll need to be able to get around under your own steam.
We've created three wonderful walking tours of different areas of the city, and during the course of our workshop you'll enjoy them all. And we’re limiting this expedition to 9 attendees so you’ll get personal, one-on-one guidance from professional photographer, Rich Wagner the whole way.
Each walk is designed to focus on a different skill -- shooting architecture, people, and landscapes -- which means that by the end of the workshop, you'll have under your belt the techniques you need for each.
Every day we'll review photos as a group, and sit, too, for revealing class sessions that will provide you with the insights you need to really put your camera to work for you and, once you've captured the shots you want… sell them.
Here's a run-down of what you can expect…
Day 1We'll meet in the afternoon and get right down to business. You'll be eager to get out and see the city. But before we do, we'll sit down to learn everything you never knew your camera could do. You'll spend some time getting to know your equipment (digital cameras only).
Then find out how to use yours to turn your average vacation shot into a photo worthy of wall space and a magazine cover. Plus you'll learn what you need and don't need to be a travel photographer… and how to go about finding a need for your photographs.
Guidebook author and Paris expert, Thirza Vallois, will also be joining us this evening. Thirza has lectured throughout the world, contributes to various print publications, including "The Financial Times," and has authored television and radio documentaries -- most notably for PBS, BBC, The Travel Channel, CNN, The Discovery Channel, and the French Cultural Channel.
We're thrilled to have her on board this May. She'll be with us this first night to talk about Paris and the many places we’ll visit over the next three days. She'll also lead a special walking tour for us later in the week, which she's tailoring especially for our group.
Attendees who have met Thirza at our earlier events have said that hearing her speak was worth the entire cost of their trip. How's that for a testimonial and a great way to start of your trip?
Day 2This morning you'll take a walking tour, camera in hand, and get a taste of the freelance photographer's life. Discover what a Paris café can teach you about turning a snapshot into $650.
Last year we started at famous cafés -- like the Café de Flore, where renowned writers and artists like Sartre and Picasso hung out and where, now, you'll find a mix of locals and tourists. Then we crossed the city to find cafés in the Marais District. This year we’ll hit some of our local favorites and we’re adding a few more to the list. Bring your walking shoes. You’re guaranteed to see Paris in a way most tourists never do.
After lunch, we’ll meet at our favorite local cheese shop and learn about (and sample) some of Paris’ finest cheeses. Then we'll go back to the classroom where you'll learn the best ways to get your photos out of your camera and into a computer.
We'll top off the day with a group review of the photos you’ve taken and then meet for an optional sunset/night shoot at the Louvre and along the Seine as the lights are enchanting there at dusk and the reflections stunning.
Day 3Today you'll want to be up early for our (optional) sunrise shoot. Last year we trolled around the Notre Dame Catherdral and captured glorious shots of the city waking up. We're likely to head back there again this year.
In any event, sun firmly up in the east, we'll settle in for a morning of classroom work. We'll begin by doing a group review of the photos you've taken so far.
And in the afternoon, we'll head out once again for more hands-on practice with the second of our three photo walking tours. Your goal will be to capture the city’s distinctive architecture through your lens, starting at the Palais-Royal and finishing on the Grand Boulevard at Chartier, a café built in the 1890s as a workers' canteen. With its hanging globe lights, vast mirrors, and brass coat stands, this place is distinctive and certainly picture-worthy.
As the sun begins to set, we’ll take you to one of the best places to photograph the Eiffel Tower – a place most tourists don’t know about. You’ll get spectacular views (and photos) of the Eiffel Tower, Paris’ most famous and romantic icon.
Day 4We'll start the day with the third of our walking tours and head to Sacre Coeur on the top of Montmarte, where you’ll learn the techniques the pros use to shoot the rich colors and textures of landscapes.
In the afternoon, we'll head back to our classroom setting to learn how to shoot indoors, including a simple light set-up you can recreate in your own living room. You'll also learn how to edit your shots in Adobe Lightroom -- techniques the pros rely on to turn imperfect shots into salable goldmines -- and find out the ins and outs of labeling and submitting your photos to clients.
You'll also learn how to set your fees… and how to sell your photographs in galleries, on coffee shop walls, and more…
We'll wrap up with a last group photo review -- you'll be amazed at the caliber of the shots you and your fellow attendees will be taking by this point!
And to top off the program, we'll meet for a farewell dinner at one of our favorite French restaurants.
