Overview: Spend three nights in a beautiful French chateau in Normandy with a day trip to Mont Saint Michel … then jump over to Paris for two more nights—and explore the “City of Light” with professional photographer Shelly Perry by your side. With daily photo reviews and sessions on improving your technique and selling your photos, this four-and-a-half-day workshop is not to be missed. You’ll explore many famous (and several not-so-famous) landmarks of Paris and learn how to take unique, saleable photographs from lesser-known viewpoints as well as how to sell them to online stock agencies.

Over Five Sunny, Adventure-Filled Days You’ll…

• Spend three nights in a beautiful 12-bedroom Chateau, where you’ll participate in stock photo shoots and get one-on-one attention editing your photos for sale to stock photo agencies.
• Take a trip to Mont Saint Michel – an island monastery, picturesque from both the inside and out.
• Explore one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Learn how to take unique, saleable shots of several famous (and many not-so-famous) landmarks.
• Find out the little-known techniques photographers use to TAKE PHOTOS THAT SELL while you travel under the trained eye of professional photographer, Shelly Perry.
• Gain tips for taking amazing, almost magical night and sunset photographs of the Louvre, Notre Dame, and the Eiffel Tower from lesser-known viewpoints.

Activity Level:

Very high activity- Most of this workshop will be done out and about on foot. We will be walking throughout the countryside of Normandy and in Paris, there are steps in the metros, steps to the top of Notre Dame Cathedral and steps up to Sacre Coeur.

While there’s time to stop and catch your breath in both places (and there are plenty of cafes in Paris where you can rest your feet over a cup of coffee) you’ll need your walking shoes on every day of this workshop.

Prerequisites:

There are no prerequisites for this workshop. All skill and experience levels are welcome, and the concepts introduced are doable by anyone.

Whether you have little experience and modest equipment or you’re already a talented amateur photographer, you’ll benefit from this program.

The Expedition Includes:

• A three-night stay in a fabulous French Chateau
• A special trip to Mont St. Michel
• Two nights and two days spent partly in class and partly out and about in Paris with hotel accommodation in a cute, boutique-style French hotel
• Special presentations and demonstrations by stock photographer Shelly Perry with instructions for breaking into online stock photo agencies
• Group reviews with Shelly where you'll learn what it takes to create a stock-worthy photograph and how to manipulate your photos in a photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom so that you can sell it to online stock photo agencies.
• Transportation to and from all photo shoots
• All your meals at the chateau including three breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners
• A wine and cheese reception on your first evening at the chateau

The Expedition does NOT Include:

Your Instructor:

Shelly Perry, from Portland, Oregon, specializes in stock photography. Her images have been seen all over the globe on music CD covers, books, magazines, catalogues, websites, ad campaigns, and even on TV. Just recently, Shelly received an award from Getty Images for her editorial photography work in Istanbul.

This workshop is for digital cameras only. You're welcome to shoot in film if you like, but due to time and space we will only focus on the digital medium of photography and the publications that buy digital photographs. Point-and-shoot digital cameras are welcomed (and encouraged for first-time snappers).

Cancellation Policy:The Paris Photography Expedition is nonrefundable. If, however, you are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be happy to apply your payment toward a future workshop minus a $200 processing fee. If you cancel due to medical reasons that are covered by your purchased travel-insurance policy, we will advise the insurance company that your travel and conference fees are non-refundable.
