The Great Escape: January's Photo Challenge Theme
Dear Reader,
This month’s Photo Challenge theme reflects what many of us would like to do in the middle of the winter: escape.
To enter, scroll down for details.
And remember, the first-, second-, and third-place winners of each month’s Challenge will automatically be entered into the grand prize Photo Challenge -- coming up in October -- for a chance to win $2,000. Plus, each month’s first-place winner gets a $30 gift certificate to our online bookstore.
Photography is a great way to “escape” the stress of everyday life. We’ll announce our 2010 workshop and expedition schedule next week. Stay tuned.
And don’t forget to scroll down for more about January’s Photo Challenge theme...

The Great Escape
By Shelly Perry in Portland, OR
Sometimes you just need to get away -- whether it’s a few minutes to yourself, a relaxing yoga session, or a vacation to a warm beach somewhere across the world.
How do you choose to get away from it all?
Get out your camera and show us this month with January’s Photo Challenge theme: The Great Escape.
We’d like to see your one best photo revealing how you escape and where you go... even if you do it right in your own hometown.
Maybe you can’t relax until your toes sink into a sandy beach:
Or a quiet forest is where you feel your best:
Or your favorite getaway is taking time to come back to yourself:
We can only accept ONE photo per person, per month.
This month’s first-place winner will get a $30 gift certificate to the AWAI E-Bookstore, and the first- second- and third-place winners will all be entered into the Hall of Fame, to compete for next year’s $2,000 Grand Prize.
Submissions for January’s Photo Challenge are due by 8:00 a.m. EST on Monday, January 25. You can sign in and submit your photo here.
Details about contest guidelines are here.
