What Halle Berry Can Teach You about Good Photography

Halle Berry knows a thing or two about photography -- or at least how to look good in photos.

Take a look at how Halle is standing in this photo.

She looks great... and she's using some classic photography tricks that professional photographers like Shelly Perry use for posing their models in people photos:

** She's reducing a bulky upper body by standing up straight and pushing her shoulders back.

** She's putting her weight on her back leg, extending her front leg out, giving her a lighter-looking figure.

** She's turning her hips at an angle to the camera, slimming her figure.

You can do the same. Or, you can have your model do the same in your people photos, and you'll see an immediate difference. Here's what I mean...

Take a look at these two silhouettes...

In this first silhouette, my model is standing with her shoulders and body square to the camera. She's also slouching a little, with her arms straight down to her sides, which makes her look kind of bulky.

But in the second silhouette, she's standing up straight with her shoulders back, her hands on her hips, and her body at an angle to the camera. I also asked her to put her weight on her back foot and extend her front leg, bending it at the knee.

Notice how she looks immediately slimmer and shapelier.

The next time you're taking a picture of someone, you should direct them to do the same.

After all, adding a little Halle Berry Style might actually make your photos more saleable. Attractive people sell.  Just flip through a few people photos on stock sites and you'll see that the best sellers look happy and healthy (and often slim).

Put these simple steps to use and I think you'll find that the camera doesn't always add 10 pounds.  It can actually subtract them too.

Happy shooting!

P.S. Mastering the art of people photography will do wonders for your photo sales, so grab a friend or family member and break out the camera.
