What if You Could Get Paid to Take Pictures on Vacation?
Live anywhere. Travel anyplace. No experience necessary.
Over three days this spring, we’ll show you how
to
turn your everyday shots into
magazine-quality photos … and profit …
(P.S. You can do it from your own backyard, too … )
Ultimate Money-Making Photo Workshop
April 26-28, 2012 in Phoenix, AZ
“When the National Geographic Traveler issue arrived in my mailbox, I picked it up and casually started flipping through it before my wife and I headed out to dinner that night. When I got to page 14 I saw a full-page ad for Peru with a large picture of Machu Picchu and my heart skipped a beat—that was my picture!”
– Danny Warren.
Dear Photographer,
Danny isn’t a highly trained photographer. But that image he snapped on a trip to Peru has gone on to sell 650 more times … a simple click of the shutter that rewarded Danny with over $900 in pure profit.
Danny loves to spend time in the outdoors – hiking and climbing in the Oregon back country, trekking on adventures around the world. Photography is also a hobby of his, and he loves to tote his camera along – snapping photos of his wife and friends amid stunning surroundings.
Five years ago, while flipping through some of his favorite shots that had been “gathering dust” on his computer’s hard drive, he wondered if maybe they had some money-making potential. He submitted a handful of his favorites to an online photo agency – a place that sells your photos for you – and his images started banking cash. He was off and running.
“I was thrilled when I realized I could make some money doing what I loved,” says Danny.
Now Danny takes his camera with him on all his travels. He’s always on the lookout for interesting locations and shots – and looking forward to the earnings those shots will generate.
And he’s not the only one …
Six weeks on a Beautiful Caribbean Island … “working”
Efrain Padro was successful in making the switch too. He took his love of photography – which had been just a relaxing sideline interest – and figured out how to turn it in to cash. Now, instead of just taking vacation photos, he’s out there capturing images for profit.
After spending nearly 20 years practicing law, Efrain longed for new adventures. He was spending his days lugging an armload of case files into the courtroom, trying case after case.
Photography was just a hobby – he didn’t go to school to become a photographer – but he knew that it was also his true passion.
So he left the briefcase behind and picked up his camera.
Now he’s selling pictures to a wide variety of clients – his recent client list includes publications like Frommer’s Budget Travel, Canada’s Photo Life, Geographic Expeditions, and Places to Go-Puerto Rico. And they’ll pay him anywhere from $100 to $500 a pop for the use of just one of his images.
And, on top of the income his photos generate, he was able to bag an all-expenses-paid, six-week trip to a beautiful Caribbean island to photograph beaches, castles, and rainforests. He took pictures of all the interesting scenes and the little things that caught his eye – similar to the types of things that you probably photographed on your last vacation.
The only difference is that he was able to profit off those images.
Efrain’s success isn’t isolated …
You Can Do This!
Even if All You've Only Ever Taken
Are Snapshots of Family and Friends …
Patrick S. isn’t a professional photographer either – though he always took photos on vacation and, like most parents, lots of his kids. One day, out at a nearby park with the family, he had his camera in tow and started taking a few shots … shots he then sold to an airline in-flight magazine (that is, the magazine that sits in the seat back pockets on an airline).
He was hooked. Everyplace is a destination for somebody, after all … and these photos were designed to entice vacationers to come to his hometown. The best part? The first collection of shots he sold earned him $450. And then he did it again to the tune of $800. And then again for $1,300 …
Point is: Not one of these folks had formal training as photographers. They simply learned a few important tricks behind creating a good photograph and who to sell it to … and next thing you know, they’d turned a fun photo hobby into a viable income stream. One that can pay from anywhere in the world – whether you do it full-time, part-time or even just on vacation …
Discover How Fun and Easy It Can Be to
Turn Your Photos into Cash …
from Anywhere in the World
Hi, my name is Lori Allen, the Director of AWAI’s Travel Division, and I’d like to show you how you can turn your spare time into money-making time – and have fun doing it. Even if all you’ve ever done is take vacation snapshots and pictures at family holiday time.
It doesn’t take any special equipment. Or years of experience. In fact, if you can snap a simple photograph, you can do it.
In fact, it's perfectly reasonable to think you could go out and snap photos a handful of hours a week — maybe just Saturday mornings, if that's what you wanted — and earn a few hundred or even a few thousand dollars a month for your efforts.
This spring, I’d like to show you how at our annual Ultimate Money-Making Photo Workshop, April 26-28, 2012 in Phoenix, AZ. Join us and you’ll --
- Find out how to sell simple travel photographs to magazines and newspapers. You decide where you want to go – to a hacienda in Ecuador, skiing in Colorado, shopping in Paris – and we’ll show you how to turn pictures from your trip into spare cash.
- Learn what it takes to create images that you can sell over and over without making even one “sales call.” Discover the single, easy, lucrative secret to selling your images online. You don't do ANY marketing. They sell themselves 24 hours a day, even while you sleep. And they can be photos of anything from your houseplant to the Eiffel Tower.
- Come away with the know-how to create photos you can sell the very next day. Try your hand at shooting real-world travel photography as you go “on assignment” through the streets of Phoenix. We’ll be out and about shooting Phoenix and its surrounds – showing you exactly what the pros look for when capturing a new location.
- Get real-time feedback on your photos in our group review sessions. You’ll learn from our team of professional photographers and photo editors exactly what makes a photograph a good one – and how you can turn your photo into a great one. You’ll find out why those glossy magazine photos always look so stunning, and how you can tweak yours to have the same effect.
- Find out how to gain "instant global reach" with your photos – with the simple push of a button. With this trick, you put your photos online once and sell them in half a dozen different marketplaces – automatically. You instantly expand your buyer base and gain the potential to pocket double, triple, even four or five times as much on any given photo … with essentially no extra work.
- Get the fast, simple formula for attracting more buyers, almost magnetically. It’s all in how you describe your images. We'll hand you the "keywording tool" that works like magic. It’s fast. It’s easy. And it’s automatic.
- Find out how your hometown, your pets, your kids, your vacations can all be photo goldmines. And discover how (even in your spare time) you can take $200 – $700 photographs right in your own back yard …
- And more …
How Would You Like to
Get Paid to Do What You Love?
Have you ever dreamed of turning your passion for photography into a lifestyle? Have you longed for the ability to set your own hours … travel when you please … wake up every morning loving what you do?
You are not alone. Take Lucy Brown, for instance. She’d been taking photos for pleasure – as a hobby – while traveling and living overseas for years. She dreamed of being a travel photographer and writer, but she always thought it was too competitive and way beyond her experience and capabilities. After all, she was an English teacher by training – and had been doing that for over five years.
But then she attended this same workshop that’s coming up in Phoenix. And, as she put it …
“Other than offering me invaluable advice and tips, it opened my eyes to the fact that with motivation and perseverance the inexperienced could also break into the industry. Now I’ve had a number of articles and photos published in International Living’s magazine and on their website – and gotten paid for them, too.
Excellent Value
“The value is excellent. I can’t imagine a better way to jump start a career, such sincere, energetic, qualified and friendly lecturers, along with presentations by real world regular people with inspiring and attainable success stories.”
– Vera Bojnel
“As well as the obvious financial benefits, it’s extremely rewarding to see my photos and writing in print.
“I’ve also become much more observant. Now I walk around looking at the world with the eyes of a photographer and writer (whether I’m at home or traveling), picking up leaflets and rarely leaving home without my camera. I feel like I have a purpose wherever I go, always looking for a story to tell with photos and words and delving much deeper into the local culture than I would have before.
“Although I’m only just breaking into the industry, I’ve never been happier, working on my own schedule and earning doing what I love. My income doesn’t support me yet, but it certainly helps toward paying for some of my trips and it makes living in Guatemala (or anywhere!) and traveling a much more enjoyable and fulfilling experience.” – Lucy B.
And Lucy’s not the only one to get her start this way. In fact, over the years we’ve shared the secrets to success with thousands of readers just like you. Ginger S. is a good example …
She had been working for years in the green-energy industry, spending her days in an exciting but high-stress environment. Then one day that environment went away entirely – her employer folded up shop and just like that – she was out of work.
Being a grandmother, she didn’t have any interest in moving to a new city and leaving her family behind. But she did have an interest in photography. She also had a camera gathering dust on a shelf.
And that’s when she turned to us. We helped show Ginger how easy and fulfilling it really can be to start earning money by taking pictures. She started out snapping shots of things as diverse as the dog park or the way her tea glistened in the morning light at her favorite breakfast spot. Today, Ginger is working full-time on a contract to provide a 2,000-image portfolio to an international stock agency. And she couldn’t be happier.
We Know this Program Works.
Our Past Workshop Attendees Have
Enjoyed Incredible Successes … Fast
Appropriate for Beginners
“Lots of good information and the workshops were appropriate for beginners. I was afraid I would be overwhelmed but I was not. The AWAI folks are terrific – very approachable and helpful.”
– Kathleen Preston
Join us in Phoenix this spring, and you’ll learn everything you need to get started. But don’t just take my word for it. Folks who have attended live events with us in the past are enjoying tremendous success …
- Sue W. attended our workshop in Paris and sold more than $1,500 worth of photos within the first three months after her trip.
- Didem Lenz attended our workshop in Austin, where she took a picture of one of the models pretending to have a headache. Health and wellness photos are a hot niche these days – and that single photo has now sold over 60 times.
- Antionette Bonamy joined us at our Nashville workshop and wrote to say that her first photo sale after the workshop was a black and white photo of a family child. “I have been inspired to do some work in black and white and I suspect that I may be on to something,” she told us. She built on that success and went on to capture first place in the Bahamas Humane Society's photography contest.
- Cheryl Bigman now owns her own photo studio where she taking wedding pictures, graduation pictures, family portraits, you name it. Her first few successes were with stock photography. But then she realized she loves working with people. Now she owns and runs her own studio.
-
Shannon Twiss is another example. After attending our workshop in Paris, she sent me this note …
"Just thought I would pass on a little good news to you. I went to Appalachia on a photo trip in September … I sold a picture [from that trip] not just once, but twice!!! (for $250 a pop!) I also have sold my Paris bike picture twice since coming home and have more interest in some of my other photos. Hopefully this is just the beginning!!! Thanks for everything … I will see you again at another workshop soon."
Five hundred dollars from a single trip. Now that's a great way to defray your travel costs. And it's easily something you can do, too …
- Mary Ann Hamilton attended our Paris photography workshop too, and when she returned home, she promptly got three photos shown at the Annual Holiday Members show at the Arts Center of St. Petersburg.
- Brenda McGill, one of our workshop graduates from Washington, DC, put what she learned there into action. And soon after, she'd earned her first published photo credit and by-line at SensibleLife.com.
Success stories like these continue to roll in – from around the country and around the world. We’d like to add your story too.

In Just Three Days, We’ll Knock Years
Off Your Learning Curve and You Can Get Started
Selling Photos (and Seeing Results)
the Very Day You Return Home
This workshop brings you a unique and exclusive opportunity to get the skills you need in a stress-free atmosphere. Our team of experts will show you how to quickly and easily transform your interest in taking simple pictures at home and when you travel into a money-making marvel.
Of course we’ll cover what it takes to create fast-selling travel and stock photographs. But that’s just the beginning. The real learning comes when you grab your camera and start shooting– with our team of experts there to guide every step of the way.
And once the workshop is underway, you’ll be able to choose from two different tracks. These two options will allow you to test drive either the freelance travel photographer’s life or the freelance stock photographer’s life.
For travel photographers, we’ll show you the simple but successful secrets to getting great shots while on location. We’ll head out on the streets in Phoenix “on assignment” where we’ll show you exactly how to capture the city – what to look for, and how to shoot it.
For stock photographers, we’re bringing in live models for you to experience real hands-on learning in a studio environment. These skills will help with all types of photography – capturing cultural nuances on the street in a new place, shooting high fashion, producing catalog-worthy product images, or even taking such “vacation” classics as flowers in a public garden or a famous architectural icon.
Nine Reasons Why You Should Come to this Workshop
- If you like taking pictures – whether it’s shots of your family or vacation photos – you already have the basics you need to make it in this business. We’ll show you how.
- Here you can try your hand with either travel photography or stock photography – simply choose the path best suited to you.
- With the proven-to-work group review sessions, you see first-hand what makes a great photograph, and learn simple steps to make your good shots great.
- Learn what photo editors are really looking for – and what types of shots make them happily hand over $200 to $1,200 each.
- Find out how to combine photography skills with your other interests to capitalize on lucrative niche markets. Whether it’s airplanes, real estate, horses or dogs – there are lots of ways to make money shooting photos.
- Work “on assignment” – you’ll learn how to make the most of your time, and how to get great money-making results.
- Talk to a stock photo “inspector” to see what they look for – those are folks who accept or reject a submitted stock photo. You can speak directly to them here.
- It would take you years – and many thousands of dollars – to amass all this information yourself. Here it’s fast, easy, and fun.
- You can turn your vacation photos into cash. Here you’ll find out how to get started, and then how to make it take off.
You see, we’ve learned over the years that sitting behind a desk and learning how to do something is completely different than getting up and actually doing it. That’s why you’ll spend at least half a day practicing what you learn.
And you’ll get feedback on your work before you leave so there’s no guess work. You’ll know what it takes and you’ll have proof that you can do it. That's what this whole thing is about, really.
You come with an interest in photography – no experience necessary, just a digital camera – and in three days, we'll show you exactly what you need to know to turn photos of your next vacation … your own hometown … and even your pets … into fast, fun, easy cash.
In your spare time. No experience necessary.
Explore Phoenix …
Camera in Hand
We’re hosting this program in photo-worthy Phoenix – an easy place to get to and a fun place to wander around, camera in hand. Our nation’s fifth-largest city, Phoenix is known for its sun … for its golf … and for its world-class museums – from art to science, you can’t go wrong.
You’ll see Saguaro cactus … and the sun red on the mountains that hem the city … in Phoenix, urban life intersects with natural drama … and you can capture it all in your camera.
We’re hosting this program at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown (we’ve arranged a special discounted rate for you), right in the heart of downtown. The hotel recently underwent a $20 million transformation – and it shows. The rooms are chic and contemporary. You can stay in and enjoy the rooftop pool, the sauna, the two restaurants.
But know that there are over 130 restaurants within a half- mile radius of the hotel. And the light rail is just outside the doors, which means it’s easy to explore Phoenix, too. You’ll have fun during our workshop hours and – I think it’s safe to say – when you’re out and about on your own, too.

PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT: We strongly suggest you protect your investment by purchasing trip-cancellation insurance, and we would be happy to recommend a policy to you. I’ve written articles about travel insurance before – how to know when you need it and whether or not it’s a good deal – so I can send you those when you register
CANCELLATION POLICY: All our workshops and expeditions are non-refundable before the event. If, however, you are unable to attend – and you give us at least 30 days notice – we will be happy to apply your payment toward a future workshop, minus a $200 processing fee for overseas expeditions or a $50 processing fee for state-side workshops like those in Phoenix or San Francisco. Cancellations with less than 30 days notice may be subject to extra fees.
NEW: IRON-CLAD GUARANTEE: If you attend the Phoenix event and decide that the photographer’s life isn’t for you (for ANY reason) and you let us know by the end of the cocktail party on the first night, we will be happy to refund your COMPLETE PAYMENT and you can spend the rest of your weekend in and around Phoenix.
