Santa Fe
Meet the Experts

Rich Wagner is a highly skilled digital photographer. His images hang in public corporations and private foundations from San Diego to Boston and in homes from the Americas to the Far East. He’s a master at teaching just about anyone with any kind of camera how to take better pictures. Rich will share his expertise in composition and editing, as well as pointers on selling locally to fund your vacations.

Shelly Perry specializes in “people” photography. She is especially known for her photos of children. Her images have been seen all over the globe on music CD covers, books, magazines, catalogues, websites, ad campaigns, and even on TV. Her work has also appeared in several local exhibits and gallery shows. In Santa Fe, Shelly will provide you with the know-how you need to break into online stock agencies and establish an ongoing source of passive income.

Join us in Santa Fe this fall and spend three full days learning from and exploring the city in the company of professional photographers ready to share their hard-won insights and secrets.

Santa Fe, New Mexico: This culturally rich and historical area is renowned for its undiffused Southwestern sunlight – a perfect venue for travel photography.

Attendees of these live workshops boast great successes -- and you needn't have a lick of experience to join their ranks.

Our presentations on selling and reselling your photographs include everything from taking the right kinds of photographs… to knowing and understanding which market will be most likely to buy them.

What’s more, every workshop participant will leave with interactive CDs that show the ins and outs of photo-editing software like Adobe Photoshop -- so even your less-than-perfect shots can be sold for a by-line and a check.

Whether you have little experience and modest equipment or you’re already a talented amateur photographer, you’ll benefit from this program. It will teach you the tricks the pros use to take photos editors buy… and teach you, too, how to turn your snapshots into profits again and again.

Join us in one of the southwest's most photogenic cities… and discover for yourself the adventure and romance of the photographer's life.

Dates

October 18-20, 2007

Your Itinerary
Thursday, October 18th

8:00 a.m. -- check in and registration at the recently renovated and extensively refurbished Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza, in a city steeped in Southwestern history and tradition. You’ll get right down to business by learning everything you never knew your camera could do. You’ll spend some time getting to know your equipment (digital cameras only). Then find out how to use yours to turn an average vacation shot into a photo worthy of wall space and a magazine cover.

Once the afternoon light begins to soften, grab your camera and get a taste of the freelance photographer’s life as you experience what Santa Fe can show you about capturing a saleable photo. Discover the “Miraculous Staircase” built without nails, dowels or any apparent support in the Loretto Chapel, the oldest Gothic structure west of the Mississippi. Stroll down Canyon Road, home to more than 100 art galleries, studios, specialty shops, and restaurants. Explore the “Palace of the Governors,” the oldest public building in the United States… capture the softly curved lines and shadows of adobe buildings representative of Santa Fe’s distinctive Southwestern architecture…

Bring your favorite walking shoes… you’re guaranteed to see what Santa Fe locals affectionately refer to as the “City Different” in a way most tourists never do.

Friday, October 19th

Set your alarm clock and join us for a dramatic sunrise shoot facing east toward the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi… a French Romanesque stone cathedral built in 1869, with the picturesque Sangre de Cristo mountains in the background.

After the sunrise shoot and breakfast on your own (perhaps at The Chocolate Maven, a bakery café that’s a regular on Santa Fe “Best” lists), we’ll reconvene at the Hilton where you’ll find out the best ways to get your photos out of your camera and into a computer and the truth about working with models and model releases.

Plus, you’ll discover the secrets professional photographers use to convince editors to buy their photos… learn how to set your fees… and how to sell your photographs in galleries, on coffee shop walls, through online stock agencies, and more.

We’ll wrap up Friday’s activities with a group review of the day’s photos.

Saturday, October 20th

Today you’ll get even more hands-on practice while you take advantage of a unique opportunity to attend one of the top ten farmers’ markets in America (USA Today) – the Santa Fe Farmers Market.

Arrive early to photograph more than 100 vendors as they set up their wares: locally-grown fruits and vegetables; flowers and houseplants; jams, jellies, and honeys; and original crafts and homespun garments. This is a perfect opportunity to practice the techniques the pros use to capture the rich colors and textures of this vibrant city and its people.

After lunch on your own, we’ll return to our hotel, where you’ll find out how to turn your shots into marketable photos during a special session on editing your work in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

Before we depart for our final night’s dinner (our compliments), we’ll have a final group review session of your best shots.

Note: Schedule and speakers are subject to change.
